FIP Conceptual Framework
The DFID-funded
Fodder Innovation Project (FIP)
is addressing the issue of fodder scarcity. Unlike the traditional perspective of information or technology scarcity in fodder production, the FIP is looking at it from that of capacity scarcity in relation to bringing about technical and other
changes in fodder practices, and is exploring ways of strengthening this capacity in order to increase use of livestock fodder and help enhance the livelihoods of livestock dependant poor people.
This initiative in the context of the System-wide Livestock Program (SLP), is implemented through the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and its collaborators, United Nations University (UNU-MERIT), the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA).
